In 1988, it eclipsed everything that had ever been seen before - the Nike Air Jordan III, Michael Jordan's third signature shoe, for which he collaborated with Nike's mastermind Tinker Hatfield for the first time. But it almost didn't happen, because 'His Airness' was about to leave Nike in 1987 - hardly imaginable in retrospect. Elephant print, Jumpman, visible Air bubble - everything was seen on a Jordan shoe for the first time. With the debut of Mars Blackmon aka Spike Lee in the advertising campaign for the launch, the victory in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest, with the legendary dunk from the free throw line, as well as the honors as MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, the Air Jordan III was predestined to make history. Now the classic is being released in a Cement Grey colorway. For this, the Jordan brand relies on a white smooth leather upper and details in the eponymous shade of gray.

Air Cushioning

Nike Air technology consists of compressed air in a robust yet flexible chamber. It provides more flexibility and bounce without sacrificing support. The Air-Sole elements retain their shape thanks to their elasticity and reduce shock. The shoe remains lightweight and encloses the foot.

About Nike

"Just do it" : Hardly any other brand lives its brand slogan like the sporting goods manufacturer founded in Beaverton in 1971. In the 1960s, athletics coach Bill Bowerman set himself the task of developing the perfect running shoe for his students. Together with the student Phil Knight, this project gave rise to the company Nike, which celebrated its breakthrough at the 1972 Olympic Games. Among the greatest achievements in the company's history are the involvement of the exceptional basketball talent Michael Jordan and the introduction of visible Nike Air® cushioning on the Nike Air Max 1. In the 80s film classic "Back to the Future", the Nike Mag with its automatic lacing plays a central role. Nike's chief designer Tinker Hatfield has recently managed to turn this dream idea into reality. Using Nike E.A.R.L. technology, he has launched the first self-lacing shoe on the market, heralding the future of sneaker development.
