The Air Jordan 4 is one of Tinker Hatfield's most iconic designs from 1989 – visible Air, mesh panels, and the signature plastic wings make the silhouette a reference to this day. For the Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro *Comic*, Jordan Brand brings back a chapter from MJ's early days: The design draws inspiration from a comic-themed Dunk shirt worn by Michael Jordan in 1985 and translates its panel graphics into sneaker language. On an off-white leather upper, the style plays with pop culture codes. Behind the transparent vamp and side panels runs a gradient of pink, purple, orange, and yellow, with pink on the front midsole and the Jumpman on the tongue. At the heel, the Nike Air logo becomes comic speech bubble letters, and a speech bubble shape replaces the upper lace wings in pink. The drop is intentionally timed: the release coincides with the San Diego Comic-Con, the most famous gathering of comic fans, collectors, and cosplayers worldwide. A pair that brings the pow-and-bang energy of old panels directly to your feet.

About Jordan

It was 1984 when a certain Michael Jeffrey Jordan had just finished his college basketball career and was drafted into the NBA by the then rather moderately strong Chicago Bulls. At the same time, various outfitters were courting the young talent, and after some back and forth, Nike was awarded the contract, whereupon his very first Nike Air Jordan signature shoe was designed together with the future Rookie of the Year - the Nike Air Jordan 1. When this shoe was launched in 1985 in the colors of the Chicago Bulls, "His Airness" had already established himself as a permanent force on the team, but a scandal was soon to ensue. The shoe broke the rule of uniformity of the appearance of the respective NBA teams, so that Michael Jordan and Nike were each condemned to 5000 dollars fine per game, should he enter the court again in the so-called "Bred" colorway...of course he did this repeatedly. It was this attitude, coupled with the unique skills of this exceptional player, that drove media and public interest to previously unimagined heights. This hype played into Nike's cards, so that they endeavored to bring a completely new model onto the market every season from 1987 onwards. At the latest from the Air Jordan III, which was designed by Tinker Hatfield, basketball fans worldwide followed with which groundbreaking new design Michael Jordan would lead his Bulls to ever new successes. 30 years later, the cult around the brand is bigger than ever. In addition to high-quality retro releases, the grand master now develops his own new models with his team members such as Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, or Luka Dončić. So whether you are interested in a performance or a classic throwback style, Jordan Brand has the right shoe for you!
