Karhu comes from Helsinki, where the brand has shaped Finnish running culture since 1916 – from the Flying Finns to the legendary sale of the Three Stripes to adidas and its own Air-Cushion idea. The Karhu Legacy 96 revisits a silhouette first introduced in 1996 as a well-cushioned running shoe with an Air-Cushion zone, sandwich heel cap, and EVA midsole, now finding new life as a retro runner. This version comes in the Hematite / Hematite colorway – a solid, muted gray that gives the panels a calm and closed appearance. Textile upper meets leather accents, while the typical speckled midsole provides contrast underfoot. Reflective details and clear overlay lines keep the look technical without being loud. About Karhu
The Finnish brand Karhu was founded in 1916 and initially produced javelins, discuses, and skis, followed a few years later by running shoes. Karhu sneakers are particularly well known for their Fulcrum technology. This was developed in 1987 and has since been tested and perfected at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and Iowa State University in the USA. It provides the sneakers with targeted cushioning, enabling a more natural running feel and better acceleration.
