With the HOKA x Beams Bondi 7, two worlds collide that seem far apart at first glance, yet work perfectly together. Beams is a Japanese cult label founded in 1976 in Harajuku, Tokyo, and has grown into one of Japan's most influential select stores and trendsetters. For the retailer's fiftieth anniversary, the choice falls on the Bondi 7 – the maximally cushioned road-running silhouette that HOKA has long brought from the treadmill to everyday life. The Turtledove / Tidal Foam colorway features muted, creamy off-white natural tones. The Bondi 7 is completely wrapped in a tone-on-tone camouflage that extends from the mesh upper to the midsole, reminiscent less of military patterns and more of the irregular texture of stones and pebbles. Combined toe overlays reference hōkime – the raked patterns of traditional Japanese gardens – while suede at the heel and reflective accents provide contrast. The entire collaboration is inspired by Wabi-Sabi and the tranquility of Japanese Zen gardens: imperfection, natural materials, and the passage of time are the common thread of a subtly reworked Bondi 7. A quiet design that brings together comfort and contemplation.
