Festival outfit: What do you need for the perfect look?
Shortly:
-
Your festival outfit should not only be stylish but also functional
-
Comfortable sneakers like the adidas Samba, Air Force 1, or Salomon XT-6 are perfect. If you want to play it safe, opt for sturdy smooth leather boots.
-
A second pair of shoes is a must: Adilettes or Crocs are perfect for camp, the shower and really hot days
-
Sunglasses, caps, fanny packs and hats not only complete your outfit visually, but are also practical.
-
Glitter and face gems? Why not! Festivals are the perfect opportunity to make your look even more unique with eye-catching details like glitter and face gems.
Festival season is about to start! It's our favorite time of year, and yet we still ask ourselves every time: What outfit should we rock at the first festival? Which sneakers should we take? And what should we do with our outfit when it rains? Because the right festival outfit not only expresses our personality, but must also be practical and weatherproof. Whether it's a hot summer day or a sudden downpour – your outfit should be up to any situation, whether you're into streetwear, techno vibes, or boho chic. We'll show you how to find the perfect festival outfit and give you tips for your ultimate style on the festival grounds.
Key pieces for your festival outfit
Your summer festival outfit should be airy, comfortable, and, of course, stylish. We're fans of loose shorts and (colorful) crop tops or oversized T-shirts . Casual streetwear is key for us! Add a light and cozy hoodie for cooler evenings. But every festival has its own vibe—and your festival outfit should match that. Whether it's a futuristic techno vibe, a trendy Y2K look, boho with fringes, or rock 'n' roll with a band shirt: your festival look is your message.
These looks dominate the festivals this summer:
-
Hip-Hop and Streetwear: Loose pants, oversized shirts, tank tops and shirts
-
Techno and Rave: Cycling shorts, wide trousers, mesh tops and reflective fabrics
-
Rock and Merch: Band shirts, short jeans or skirts and boots
-
Indie and Boho: Flowy dresses and skirts, fringes, hats and feather jewelry
-
House and Y2K: Low-rise cargo pants, crop tops and wild accessories
Overall, the perfect festival outfit, no matter what style, is as follows:
-
Lightweight, breathable looks for hot days
-
Layering looks for cooler nights
-
Comfortable festival sneakers or sturdy boots
-
Rain protection for sudden showers (cape or rain jacket and rubber boots)
-
Accessories such as sunglasses, caps, bum bags and jewelry

Shoes for the festival: The best sneakers and alternatives for every weather
For us, the main question is: Which sneakers should we take to the festival? We don't want to rock the oldest pair, but we also don't want to destroy the newest sneakers. Because one thing is clear: The shoes will suffer. And that's a good thing, because we want to be moving around at the festivals. Therefore, the shoes simply have to be comfortable.
Sneakers or boots?
Whether you're more of a sneaker or a boot team is up to you. Boots have the advantage that, if they're made of smooth leather, they're also great for rain, and you're perfectly equipped with one pair of shoes. However, in hot temperatures, your feet will sweat more quickly in boots than in airy sneakers. If you opt for sneakers, keep in mind that you'll need something weatherproof in heavy rain. We're fans of rubber boots in bad weather; they give it that extra festival vibe.
Tip: If you choose sneakers and rubber boots, take gel insoles with you, as rubber boots are usually very basic and not very comfortable in the long run.
The perfect sneakers for your next festival
So which sneakers are ideal for festivals? Classics like the Adidas Samba , Air Force 1 , or Converse Chucks are perfect for festivals. They're comfortable, lightweight, and look good with any outfit. If you want easy-care sneakers, go for smooth leather sneakers. They're easy to clean . Otherwise, you can also go straight for waterproof sneakers , like the Salomon XT-6 . We'd advise against suede sneakers; they're not as easy to clean and more prone to stains, like spilled drinks at camp.
Tip: Take black smooth leather sneakers with you. They're easy to clean and the seams are black anyway, so nothing can go wrong.
Flip-flops, slides, Crocs and rubber boots
Whether you choose sneakers or boots, you need a pair of comfortable rubber shoes. For chilling at camp, in the shower, for a quick toilet break, or on the way to the lake at a festival. The absolute classic is, of course, the Adidas Adilette . Otherwise, we think bright Crocs are always cool at any festival, and of course Birkenstocks . They even come in plastic, so you can shower in them. You can buy rubber boots cheaply anywhere; if you want something special, you can now also get some from Crocs .

Festival outfit for rain and cold
There's nothing worse than standing in a crowd or lying in a tent with soaked clothes or freezing cold. A good festival outfit should be prepared for any weather!
How to keep yourself warm:
-
Layering is your best friend – thin long-sleeved shirts under hoodies or oversized jackets
-
A fleece sweater is a must-have, especially when climbing back into the tent at night and getting up in the morning.
-
Thermal leggings or tights under shorts or dresses
-
Lined or waterproof sneakers or sturdy boots
What to do when it rains?
-
Rubber boots or waterproof sneakers
-
Transparent or bright rain ponchos
-
Waterproof fanny packs or backpacks
Accessories make your outfit perfect
Your festival outfit isn't complete without the right accessories - they're a must! Go for fancy , inexpensive sunglasses so you won't be upset if you lose them. Funny caps and extravagant hats or a really nice scarf are really important for protecting yourself from the heat. Your bag is your home at festivals. Make sure it has enough room because you always want to have your hands free, but don't take a huge bag with you because that will annoy not only you but also the people around you. The best things are good bum bags or other cross-body bags that fit easily against your body and are minimal. Last but not least: glitter, face gems and temporary tattoos - because festivals are the perfect opportunity for that extra glow.
Conclusion
Whether it's sunshine, rain, or chilly nights – with the right festival outfit, you'll be prepared for anything. Comfortable, breathable clothing, clever layering, and weatherproof shoes are the basics for a stress-free festival experience. The right mix of trendy pieces, comfort, and functionality makes your outfit perfect. Sneakers or boots?
