The Style 44 met with great enthusiasm among skaters in the 70s due to the legendary durability of its iconic profiled outsole. Due to its unique thickness, the sole was more durable and its tread design provided grip for more board control. The Premium Authentic 44 shoes reintroduce the striped seam design at the heel of the original handcrafted designs and a higher glossy sidewall.

The idea of Vitale Bramani, the forefather of the Vibram sole, was to increase safety in the mountains. His design was the Carrarmato sole and the most suitable material was rubber, inspired by tires that work on any surface. Therefore, Vitale Bramani first worked with tire manufacturer Goodyear to produce the first prototypes of Carrarmato soles. He subsequently continued to innovate, developing increasingly high-performance soles.
