The Nike Wmns Air Rift brings one of the most distinctive silhouettes of the Swoosh back to the streets. Debuting in 1996, the Rift was born from the idea of Nike designer Kip Buck, who wanted to capture the feeling of barefoot running – inspired by Kenyan long-distance runners and named after the Great Rift Valley. The split toe, a novelty for Nike at the time, remains the hallmark between sneaker and sandal. This version features pony hair on the upper, giving the Rift a tactile, luxurious direction. The Black / Cool Grey colorway keeps it subdued and clean, with the embroidered Swoosh sitting discreetly, while the Velcro straps at the midfoot and heel remain as functional as ever. The Air Rift has always been a statement for those who run outside the norm. In this pony hair version, the Tabi classic gets a touch of understated luxury without losing its uncompromising character.

Max Air was the first visible version of Nike's Air technology. Inspired by the modern inside-out architecture of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Hatfield developed the Air Max and literally opened a window onto the sole of the shoe. And thus started a revolution in the world of footwear.

About Nike

"Just do it" : Hardly any other brand lives its brand slogan like the sporting goods manufacturer founded in Beaverton in 1971. In the 1960s, athletics coach Bill Bowerman set himself the task of developing the perfect running shoe for his students. Together with the student Phil Knight, this project gave rise to the company Nike, which celebrated its breakthrough at the 1972 Olympic Games. Among the greatest achievements in the company's history are the involvement of the exceptional basketball talent Michael Jordan and the introduction of visible Nike Air® cushioning on the Nike Air Max 1. In the 80s film classic "Back to the Future", the Nike Mag with its automatic lacing plays a central role. Nike's chief designer Tinker Hatfield has recently managed to turn this dream idea into reality. Using Nike E.A.R.L. technology, he has launched the first self-lacing shoe on the market, heralding the future of sneaker development.
