The Nike Waffle Racer brings one of the brand's founding stories back to the streets. The silhouette goes directly back to Bill Bowerman's legendary kitchen table moment: When the University of Oregon replaced its cinder track with a synthetic surface, Bowerman wanted to design a shoe that would grip without spikes on the artificial track – and sewed the waffle-shaped sole under his running shoes. From this prototype grew a whole retro running DNA. In the Old Royal / Summit White / Black version, the Racer stays true to the vintage original. The nylon upper features the sleek, low-profile lines that give early runners their character, while the leather branding provides a clean contrast. Underfoot sits the namesake Waffle rubber sole with its distinctive diamond grip. A royal blue-based colorway with clear white and black accents – calm, sporty, with the dusty 70s feeling that anchors the Waffle Racer in running history to this day.
