CUP DA FRANCO - RUNNING FOR PIZZA SINCE 1978

After two years of Covid-19 break, the Darmstadt city run is celebrating its comeback next - and Asphaltgold is celebrating with it.

Started more than 40 years ago, the run has not only attracted athletes from all over the world; the first sponsors of the Darmstadt city run were the sporting goods manufacturer Nike as well as the Ristorante "da Franco", which is why the street run in Darmstadt's city center quickly became known under the name "Cup da Franco". But the old-timers knew the run under a completely different, very congenial name: "Pizzalauf". But why?

The background behind this name is the prize that was waiting for the fastest locals at the finish line: A year's subscription to a pizza, washed down with a cool blonde, daily, of course.

As a pizza lover and running enthusiast crew, it's a no-brainer that the Asphaltgold Running Club joins the pack and we accompany the whole thing with an in-store event.

Dubbed the "Mother of All City Runs" by Runners World, the 5K (3 fast but treacherous laps through downtown Darmstadt) intersects our store where our cheering event awaits you this year. We will be cheering and celebrating on the roadside with pizza, drinks and pushing tunes and hope that after the run all runners will toast with us to their (best) times!

The Asphaltgold runners make themselves recognizable with appropriately produced merch consisting of a "Cup da Franco" Tee and stone colored cap. Both are not only suitable for the running track, but also for Pizza & Beer Days in the sun and are available from Friday, 17.06. online & instore for 35€ each.

Our Cheering & Celebrating Event starts on 22.06.22 at 6pm at our Asphaltgold Store at Ludwigsplatz in Darmstadt.
