After two years of Covid-19 break, the Darmstadt city run is celebrating its comeback next - and Asphaltgold is celebrating with it.
Started more than 40 years ago, the run has not only attracted athletes from all over the world; the first sponsors of the Darmstadt city run were the sporting goods manufacturer Nike as well as the Ristorante "da Franco", which is why the street run in Darmstadt's city center quickly became known under the name "Cup da Franco". But the old-timers knew the run under a completely different, very congenial name: "Pizzalauf". But why?
The background behind this name is the prize that was waiting for the fastest locals at the finish line: A year's subscription to a pizza, washed down with a cool blonde, daily, of course.
