What was it like for you in the beginning at Asphaltgold?
What makes the company special for you?
Ilana: Super exciting, but also incredibly intense at the same time. Alessandro threw me right in at the deep end at an event for 800 people while he was on vacation, lol. Otherwise, everyone is super nice, and I quickly felt at home. Everyone in the company is very approachable.
John: Very exciting. The coolest part was the onboarding phase, where we worked in each department. This gave us a good insight into the tasks of the different teams and who to contact if we needed help with something. On top of that, we got to know a huge number of different colleagues who we wouldn't have such a connection with in our normal work life.
Adelina: Surprisingly chaotic, but warm and welcoming, and at the same time extremely competent. A lot of learning by doing and teamwork across departments, as well as the opportunity to express one's ideas in all areas.
What makes the team special?
Harel: Absolutely, diversity. It's what makes us versatile, creative, and adaptable.
Ecem: We all get along really well with each other, even though everyone is so different.
Alessandro: I think we have a great team here in FFM with a great spirit – we complement each other well and we all have a healthy level of fitness hahah
What can customers expect from your team and the new store itself?
Chris: I hope, of course, that our customers go home with a unique shopping experience, that we can leave a little mark on the cityscape and give people a little of our positive energy – simply a nice gut feeling.
Sanchez: It will be a spot for the community, where people can find inspiration and exchange ideas. We want to create a space where everyone enjoys stopping by.
What do you expect from the opening / the first few weeks after opening?
Alessandro: The city and the people of Frankfurt are probably just as excited as we are – the first few weeks will probably be crazy, and lots of people will want to stop by. I'm excited for us to get into spring and all of us to look forward to a fantastic summer together in our store.
John: I hope our idea resonates well in Frankfurt. And that people can take a little more time in our store and unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
Sophia: A lot of good stress – an intensive time that brings the team together and interesting conversations in the store with everyone who comes by.
What is your current favorite brand?
Ilana: Comme des Garçons or sacai – both awesome.
Harel: Acne Studios and Y/Project.
Chris: I think Our Legacy does a great job. Nanamica, Farah Japan, and Jeanerica are also among my favorites.
Sophia: I’m really excited about Farah Japan – upscale silhouettes and quality fabrics.
What is your current favorite shoe?
Adelina: I love the low profile trend and anything that resembles a boxing or racer shoe – Speedcat, Tokyo, Rasant, etc., but also new hybrid silhouettes: half sneaker/half loafer or Mary Janes.
Ecem: Nike Shox R4 Racer Blue.
Chris: I recently got the OG Shox (silver/blk) and the OG Spiridons - I'm 20 years younger in my head.
What is your insider tip for Frankfurt?
What does a perfect day in Frankfurt look like for you?
Alessandro: Until I sacrificed my Google list for our Frankfurt store wrap, I was the gatekeeper here, haha. Perfect day: morning run – matcha at Drei – ramen at Muku – drinks at Yaldy.
Sophia: Insider tip: Toh Thong and Soi22
John: For me, a perfect day in Frankfurt would be a bit of café-hopping in the city, like at Drei Kaffeebar and Hopplo. A little stroll along the Main River and then a nice dinner in the evening, like at Pak Choi. My insider tip would be Gangaru in Frankfurt Nied. It's a bit outside the city, unfortunately, but if you want to eat truly authentic Korean food, definitely check it out.
Which 3 songs belong in our store rotation playlist?
Harel: Wizkid - Slow, Larry June - Jan 14th, Anthony Hamilton - Charlene
Ecem: Pump It - Black Eyed Peas, Jazz (We've Got) - A Tribe Called Quest, Day'N'Nite - Kid Cudi
Sanchez: Kendrick Lamar ft. Sza – Gloria, Lil Yachty - SOLO STEPPIN CRETE BOY, Future - The Percocert & Stripper Joint
Ilana: Purple - NAS; Maybe - NERD ; Flow - Sade
What will be your go to order at the cafe?
Adelina: Flat white with oat milk, but I'm most looking forward to the tea selection.
Ecem: Matcha!!!
Alessandro: Hojicha latte in winter & iced matcha latte in summer (too late for Pilates…)
John: Filter coffee! Either batch brewed or hand brewed.
When are you finally going to join Bad Habits?
Chris: Sooooooooooon!!!!
Ilana: ... no comment
Sophia: That's not going to happen in this lifetime! Cheers to Sanchez – just joking, as soon as we open and I can convince my girls.
Sanchez: Bro, I organize Bad Habits in Frankfurt...
