If you look at the colorful history of Vans, one shoe in particular catches your eye: the Vans Sk8-Hi. After the Vans Old Skool, the Sk8-Hi was the first shoe to bear the now world-famous Vans side stripe. When it was released in 1978, the shoe still went by the name "Style 38", which served as the project name for the Sk8-Hi at the time. Immediately upon release, the shoe found many fans among the Californian skate community, as it had a very special advantage over its predecessors: the high and padded shaft. This ensured that skaters and BMXers hurt their ankles less during their tricks. After the shoe took the Californian skate community by storm, it enjoyed after a short time also beyond the borders of California more and more popularity. Today, the Vans Sk8-Hi is one of the hottest skate shoes in the world. The upper of the shoe is made of robust canvas or suede, which makes it particularly durable. The striking lacing and the Vans-typical sole in waffle look round off the design. Thanks to its high shaft, it offers particularly stable support when skating and protects the ankle from unpleasant abrasions. As a high-top shoe, it is not only particularly well suited for skating, but is also suitable as a fashion accessory on the street. Especially the numerous colorways make the Vans Sk8-Hi very versatile to wear. In addition to simple plain colours such as white, grey or black, the Sk8-Hi also appears again and again as a special edition with unusual patterns.
