    HOW TO PLAY *SCOPA*

To celebrate the release of our Puma Palermo *Scopa* collab, all buyers receive a special gift-with-purchase: since the collaboration is named after the Italian cardgame Scopa, we have designed an exclusive deck of cards and included them with each pair. However, not everyone may know the classic Italian game and the rules are not immediately obvious. Therefore, we have summarized the rules for you here in the blog below. You can find out more about the shoe here !

    *SCOPA*: The basic rules

    The Cards:
Each number card is worth the same as the number of symbols (coin, cup, knife, pastry roller) on it.
    Jacks are 8 points.
    Horses are 9 points.
    Kings are 10 points.

    The Game:
Each player starts with 3 cards in his hands – 4 cards are placed face up in the middle of the table.
Players try to capture cards by matching their values with the value of one card from their hand. If they cannot match anything, they have to place one card from their hand in the middle of the table.

E.g. You have a 9 ( horse ) in your hand: You can now capture another 9 ( horse)  laying in the middle of the table OR several cards that add up to the number 9 (e.g. five + four, three + six etc.). If there are no cards in the middle, equalling your 9, you have to place your card in the middle of the table and finish your move.

If a player sweeps all cards from the middle, they score a so called “Scopa” and earn an extra point.
More hand cards (another 3) are dealt when the initial 3 are played. The round of the game ends, once all cards are dealt.
After the round points are counted based on each players swept cards.
    Then the next round starts.

The game is played until one player reaches 11 points in total.

    The Score:
1 point for having the most cards.
1 point for having the most coins (if there's a tie, no one gets a point).
1 point for having the number 7 of coins.
1 point for having the most 7´s (if there's a tie, no one gets a point).  // Alternative for Pros: 1 Point for a “Primera” (specific point system: from 21:52mins)

1 point for ever Scopa you made.
