La silhouette remonte à la chaussure de basketball de 1982 – la première chaussure à porter Nike Air. Pour ce drop, Nike s'inspire de l'esthétique du vieux horror et donne au classique une posture plus aiguisée, presque industrielle. La base reste sans compromis : la majeure partie de la chaussure est en cuir noir, avec du rouge sur les bords, les coutures, la doublure et le branding. De petites rivets argentés sont dispersés sur la tige, notamment autour de la toebox et des panneaux latéraux, donnant à l'Air Force 1 un aspect plus rugueux, presque assemblé. Les lignes rouges sous le matériel font ressortir ces détails encore plus. Un contour de Swoosh rouge disparaît presque dans le noir. L'idée puise sa force dans l'horreur vintage. Nike cite des films d'horreur anciens comme inspiration. Il n'y a pas de licence officielle, mais le noir, le rouge et le métal rendent la comparaison avec Pinhead facile à comprendre.
