For the past decades, Nike tried to revolutionize running. The goal: to run on air. 30 years after the first Air Max released, they set new standards on Air Max Day 2017. The result: the Nike Air VaporMax.It took seven years of development from the first sketches back in 2010 to the first release in 2017. Zachary Elder, cushioning innovation designer, took his ideas to the revolutionary sole of the VaporMax. The air unit acts as the sole and is not covered by a midsole as seen on previously released Air Max Styles. While running, the chambers of the air unit compress and release again by bouncing back from the ground. The upper was created by innovation designer Tom Minami with a Flyknit-upper that netles like a sock to your feet.Light, dynamic and with a focus on performance – the Air VaporMax is the lightest and most flexible Air Max ever released – a true gamechanger. The Nike Air VaporMax 2020 FK is the newest model in the VaporMax family. Each pair is made of at least 50% recycled content by weight, such as excess material, polyester, or foam material. The Air unit consists of at least 75% TPU – also recycled. Highlight of the Nike Air VaporMax 2020 FK is the lacing and the fastener of the lacing. You lace them with the strap on the heel and loose them with the release-tab on the tongue.

About Nike

"Just do it": Hardly any other brand lives its brand slogan like the sporting goods manufacturer founded in Beaverton in 1971. In the 1960s, athletics coach Bill Bowerman set himself the task of developing the perfect running shoe for his students. Together with the student Phil Knight, this project gave rise to the company Nike, which celebrated its breakthrough at the 1972 Olympic Games.

Among the greatest achievements in the company's history are the involvement of the exceptional basketball talent Michael Jordan and the introduction of the visible Nike Air® cushioning on the Nike Air Max 1. The Nike Mag with its automatic lacing plays a central role in the 80s film classic "Back to the Future". Nike's chief designer Tinker Hatfield has recently managed to turn this dream idea into reality. Using Nike E.A.R.L. technology, he brings the first self-lacing shoe onto the market and thus heralds the future of sneaker development.
