The 80s are celebrating their big comeback at adidas. Iconic silhouettes such as the Stan Smith and the Powerphase are very popular and have become indispensable on the streets. In addition to retro releases of these two classics, adidas is currently also launching another tennis-inspired silhouette. We are talking about the adidas A.R. Trainer. The A.R. Trainer is inspired by the adidas ASC 100, a tennis classic from 1988. Tennis pros have to show their skills on grass, clay and hard court to win a Grand Slam. That's exactly what the ASC 100 was designed for. The adidas A.R. Trainer takes the design aesthetic of this classic and reinterprets it in its own unique way. The clean and structured design results in a great retro look and perfectly reflects the tennis style of the 80s and 90s. The upper is made of high quality smooth leather and suede throughout. Different textures and multiple layers are combined in an elaborate panelling to create a coherent overall look. Thanks to the midsole made of cushioning EVA foam, the shoe offers a high level of comfort, making it perfect for everyday wear. The first colorway, which was released in January 2019, plays with different white tones and comes particularly clean. The newer colorways add a few more colorful accents without being overbearing. The A.R. Trainer cuts a good figure all around and adds another timelessly beautiful silhouette to adidas' tennis-inspired product range.
