Adidas A - ZX Journey

1984, history was made with the launch of the adidas ZX-series. The focus of the ZX-series back then was on the athletic performance of the shoe. Responsible for the first designs was Jacques Chassaing. The first ZX model was introduced to the market in 1984 as part of the revolutionary adidas ZX running concept. Core topic of this concept was to bring the most important criteria for a runner into one shoe - the adidas ZX 500 was born. Even today it is one of the most legendary shoes out of the adidas archive. The next important year for the series was 1989 with the launch of the adidas ZX 4000 series and its completely new design concept and the introduction of the heel cap, which is still used today. Another milestone was the use of the legendary Torsion system in a shoe of the ZX line. The Torsion bone is an ultralight bridge that connects the forefoot with the heel, resulting in a special stability for the whole foot – a unique revolution in the running shoe technology. Other models of the series are still part of the ZX repertoire und models like the adidas ZX 8000 Aqua wrote sneaker history.

2020 marks the return of the legendary aZX campaign of 2008 where adidas worked together with 26 global partners, who brought their own spin to several ZX models. With the 2020 ‘a to ZX’ series, adidas takes us on another trip through the ZX portfolio. For each letter of the alphabet, adidas will release a matching model.
