Clarks Originals is a shoe manufacturer and retailer that boasts one of the richest traditions in the world. The company was founded in 1825 in the town of Street, in Somerset, England, where it still has its headquarters today. Brothers James und Cyrus Clark realized the need for high-quality footwear at an early stage and so continually evolved their product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities. With their flagship shoes, the Desert Boot and the Wallabee, the brand has celebrated huge successes across different generations and subcultures. Besides the English Mods in the 1960s, it was above all the Jamaican Rudeboys who adopted the brand as their own and made it big. The trend gradually swept from Jamaica’s coast to the streets of Brooklyn, where rap heroes like the Wu-Tang Clan discovered the styles for themselves in the middle of the 90s. The Wallabee, in particular, defined a new hip-hop look and introduced a more smart-casual style to the very sportswear-inspired scene. Fast-forward to 2018 and Clarks is releasing, in addition to its all-time classics in new colors and material updates, completely new models that will inject their very own flair into the sneaker world.
