The Nike Air Vortex was first released in 1985 as part of the V-Series along with the Vector and Vengeance. With its second reintroduction in 2011, the Vortex hit the retro running scene like a bomb, first in its original colorway with the gold Swoosh and later in many other colorways. With every colorway released, the fanbase of this 80s classic grew as well. After a bit of a dry spell, the Vortex is finally coming back in its original form for 2017. Looking to the future, Nike also sends a new interpretation of the Vortex in the form of the Air Vortex '17. This new version is equipped with an IU midsole and a larger Nike Air heel element for better cushioning. Together with the more modern materials on the upper, this is a successful update that remains true to its roots.
